EuroChem Corn Fertilizer Trials Prove Successful in Lipetsk Oblast

08.04.2026 | News

EuroChem specialists have successfully tested an optimized, balanced corn nutrition program that delivered consistent yields despite adverse weather conditions. The "Perfect Corn" project achieved a yield of 14.1 t/ha, holding up well despite unfavorable weather conditions.

The trial used EuroChem mineral fertilizers on Lidea corn hybrids, with crop protection products supplied by BASF. The well-designed mineral nutrition program drove both higher yields and greater economic efficiency.

Before sowing, EuroChem agronomists conducted detailed soil analysis to determine nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and other nutrient levels. From these results, the team drew up a crop nutrition plan covering the pre-sowing stage:

·         The base fertilizer was Croplex NP(S) 12-40(10), which supplies nitrogen, phosphorus, and two forms of sulfur: the first becomes available immediately after application, while the second supports nutrition during the second half of the growing season. Sulfoammophos 20-20-14 and supplementary products were used on other trial plots.

·         During the active leaf development stage, when the crop's nitrogen uptake peaks, UAN-32 (urea ammonium nitrate solution) was applied at a rate of 200 kg/ha. This fertilizer delivers nitrogen in three forms simultaneously: one fast-acting, one providing medium-term nutrition, and one releasing gradually — ensuring a continuous supply throughout the growing season.

·         Aqualis foliar fertilizers were applied across all plots at 3 kg/ha. Different formulations used at different growth stages promoted rapid vegetative growth and improved the crop's tolerance to abiotic stress.

"Getting corn nutrition right requires careful analysis of many variables. There is no one-size-fits-all solution: every mineral nutrition program must be tailored to specific growing conditions and individual farm needs. Our upfront planning paid off, and we achieved our targets using EuroChem's own mineral fertilizers," said Andrei Polyansky, Agrochemical Services Manager at EuroChem.

Corn remains one of Russia's key agricultural crops — valued not only in the food industry but also as a critical feed source for livestock. Consistent, high-quality yields directly feed into the cost of meat and dairy production, as well as the resilience of Russian agricultural sector. In adverse weather conditions, the successful application of modern mineral nutrition programs significantly strengthens Russian agricultural performance.
