KuibyshevAzot's Environmental Highlights

Environmental protection, reduced industrial impact, and lower resource consumption are among the core pillars of KuibyshevAzot PJSC's development strategy. Over the past five years alone, the company's capital expenditure on environmental projects and initiatives has exceeded RUB 7 billion.

Working steadily toward these goals, the company has been systematically reducing its environmental footprint through the adoption of advanced technologies and the implementation of major environmental projects. Since 2021, KuibyshevAzot has completed two large-scale investment projects with significant environmental impact. Stormwater treatment facilities have been commissioned for the Northern Industrial Zone and part of the Central District of Togliatti — an important environmental project forming part of the "Volga Health" federal programme under the "Ecology" national project. Funded entirely from the company's own resources, the project required an investment of RUB 1.5 billion. The new treatment facilities are playing a significant role in the ecological recovery of the Volga. At the ammonium nitrate production unit, a new evaporation and granulation unit has been commissioned, cutting atmospheric emissions by 200 tonnes per year. Investment in this project exceeded RUB 5 billion.

In 2025, KuibyshevAzot's production site carried out a range of technical measures with environmental benefits. To improve wastewater quality, the effluent drainage scheme within the mineral fertilizer production complex was revised, and closed-cycle treatment facility projects were implemented in the transport section. The modernisation of the lime milk preparation unit and the switch to a new process scheme using granulated lime at the water treatment unit significantly reduced the volume of waste generated during water processing. The company also continued its programme to bring the stormwater treatment facilities of the Northern Industrial Zone and part of the Central District of Togliatti up to their design performance targets.

Over the past ten years, while increasing output by a factor of 1.5, KuibyshevAzot has reduced total emissions by a factor of 1.4, specific emissions by a factor of 2, river water consumption per tonne of output by a factor of 1.6, wastewater generation by a factor of 1.8, electricity consumption by a factor of 1.8, heat energy consumption by a factor of 1.5, and benzene consumption rates by 14%.

Compared to the previous year, in 2025 specific emissions fell by 7.7%, wastewater generation by 24.5%, river water consumption by 4%, and waste generation by 5%. Total expenditure on environmental projects and initiatives, including capital investment, amounted to RUB 6.8 billion in 2025.

The company has obtained its Integrated Environmental Permit (IEP) on schedule for its main production site in Togliatti and for the stormwater treatment facilities of the Northern Industrial Zone and part of the Central District of Togliatti — a project of major environmental significance both for the company and for the region as a whole. Given the company's consistent track record of environmental measures and its compliance with permissible emission standards and process standards, KuibyshevAzot is not required to develop an environmental performance improvement programme as part of its IEP.

Environmental safety compliance and production monitoring are carried out continuously. In 2025, more than 11,000 analyses were carried out covering emission composition, ambient air quality, wastewater of various categories, and other parameters. Measurements at the boundary of the sanitary protection zone and on the production site were performed by independent laboratories: the Volga Region Hydrometeorological Service (Privolzhskoye UGMS), the Centre for Laboratory Analysis and Technical Measurements (TsLATI), NRC Ecoanalytica LLC, and IKhiIE LLC, which together conducted 4,375 measurements — with no violations recorded.

During periods of declared adverse meteorological conditions (AMC), KuibyshevAzot follows the emissions reduction plan approved by the Samara Oblast Ministry of Forestry, Environmental Protection and Natural Resources. Particular attention is traditionally given to production culture and the upkeep of the industrial site, including landscaping, greening of the plant grounds, and maintenance of the sanitary zone.

In 2025, the company continued its work on using production waste as secondary resources. During the year, around 18,000 tonnes of products made from main production by-products were dispatched. The share of waste directed to recycling and reuse increased to 85.5% of the total.

KuibyshevAzot actively partners with public organisations, funding a range of environmental projects and working to foster environmental awareness among the younger generation. The company supports environmental competitions, conferences and exhibitions for regional schoolchildren, and takes part in the Ecomobile waste-sorting educational project. It also works with the Institute of Ecology of the Volga River Basin of the Russian Academy of Sciences, supporting scientific events, research, and the operation of the research vessel Biolog.

Since 2012, the company has participated in forest restoration programmes, including three years of seedling care following each planting. In 2023, KuibyshevAzot signed a cooperation agreement on environmental protection with the Samara Oblast Ministry of Forestry, Environmental Protection and Natural Resources, under which the company took stewardship of the Stavropol Pine Forest specially protected natural area (SPNA). One of the largest natural monuments in the region at 861 hectares, the SPNA is located within the Togliatti forest, which was damaged by wildfires. Under its stewardship, the company has focused on restoration and clearance work in line with the area's management requirements. In 2025, the company funded the clearance of 2 hectares and the planting of 2 hectares of new forest within the SPNA. To date, the company has restored a total of 61 hectares of forest and over 300,000 trees.

KuibyshevAzot was among the first industrial enterprises in Samara Oblast to join the Regional Environmental Standard, signing a cooperation agreement on environmental and industrial safety with the Samara Oblast Government.

Over the past year, the company's teams cleared 135,000 square metres of urban and forest areas and riverbank sections along the Kuybyshev Reservoir and Usinsky Bay. Notably, all environmental activities involve the company's employees and their families.

In 2025, the company ranked in the top 5 of the AK&M news agency's Social Efficiency Rating among Russia's largest companies for transparency in social and environmental reporting and alignment with sustainable development principles. KuibyshevAzot also ranked in the top 10 of the RAEX ESG ranking — published by one of Russia's largest non-credit rating agencies — among Russia's best chemical companies.
