Russian producers of mineral fertilizers had met nearly 100% of the forecast demand of the Russian agro-industrial complex for their products for the entirety of 2022 in the first nine months of this year, the President of Russian Fertilizer Producers Association Andrey Guryev told Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin during the XXIV All-Russian Agro-Industrial Exhibition "Golden Autumn" held in the Moscow Region.

According to the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, by the end of September, agricultural producers in Russia purchased 4.7 mln tonnes (100% on primary nutrient basis), 14% more than in the same period last year.

“Although it is only October, farmers already practically have 100% of mineral fertilizers needed for the year. There is no doubt that the annual fertilizer needs of farmers will be surpassed,” Andrey Guryev noted. He also thanked the government for supporting Russian agriculture, which discovered new opportunities for the development of logistics infrastructure in the regions, even those far from the primary production of mineral fertilizers. “Of course, the Far East is important for us, where thanks to the zero tariff for delivery by rail, the consumption of fertilizers was actively developed until recently,” he noted.

More than a year ago, manufacturers in advance and voluntarily froze prices for Russian farmers. Price fixing has made a significant contribution to improving agriculture’s profitability. Today, enterprises in the mineral fertilizer industry operate in accordance with the guidelines of the FAS Russia, agreed with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

“The most important thing is to fully provide our farmers [with mineral fertilizers],” Mikhail Mishustin emphasized, praising the efforts of producers in maintaining stable prices in the domestic market. Later, opening the plenary session, Prime Minister noted that one of the key factors for this year's record-breaking harvest was providing farmers with mineral fertilizers “on time and in full”.

Over the past 7 years, mineral fertilizer producers have invested more than 1.5 trillion rubles in the development of enterprises and logistics capacities in Russia. During this time, the consumption of mineral fertilizers in Russia doubled to 5 mln tonnes, and by 2030 the figure should reach at least 8 mln tonnes according to the forecast of the Ministry of Agriculture.
